I have just gained a 5ft which came with a few fish in it (7 big silver sharks, a kuhli, a ghost cat 2 peppers, 5 botia striata, 2 plecs (1 albino 1 common) a couple of black widows) and these 2 fellas, but i havent a clue what they are, or how to sex them… any suggestions appreciated, oh and theres a pic of one of the plecs for good measure

Ahh! difficult. A Rineloricaria species may be on your first pic. The problem is that a lot of them look so alike that it is sometimes impossible to nail them down to a particular species. What we thought of as R.parva years ago has now been proven wrong as that is what I would have said if I had seen the picture around 10 years ago. If you could get a better picture of the second whiptail as this one looks different.
Allan.
