This one is a lighter brown than any others I have seen - it actually has anice red tinge all over and especially the fins.
seems to have a light background with fairly large darker brown spots.
I noticed it straight away and the bloke quoted 6 but when he actually got a good look at it in the bag he decided that it was an L number and changed the price to 14 !!

Anyway I had decided to buy himby then so I paid the higher price.

He stands out if only because of the REDDISH tint all over his body and especially fins.

Hi Zincubus

There are quite a few different pleco catfish that have been sold under the common name of 'clown pleco' and for a while they were listed as peckoltia species; before being more correctly diagnosed as panaque species, and also it is true to say that there have been some mis-diagnosed as panaque maccus. (Yann is more up to date on this than I)
Have you looked in Scot Cats image files to see if any of the other Panaque species shown are closer to the pleco you have?
BTW in the link you gave to the fish forum site it says that sexing
QUOTE
The sexes are virtually impossible to distinguish.

they can actually be sexed.

BTW I take it this is what you wanted to link to on Planet Catfish?

panaque maccus

My son asked "who was Elton John dad"?
I replied "He played keyboards son, for Marc Bolan"!
