It may be the smaller Sterlet, Acipenser ruthenus, that they are selling which may get up to 2ft in a pond. If my pond was bigger I would love to get some as they are a COOL!! looking fish.

I have never kept sterlets, also my pond was never big enough.
I believe that they need quite deep water (over 2ft) as in the summer months the water temperature rises to a uncomfortable even dangerous level for these fish
