Relevant Information:

For a time this species could not be placed in any of the described genera due to the overlaps of traits to different genera and was given the name of Ancistrini, a tribe of the subfamily Hypostominae. Description: L082 is smaller and has a more slender body and mature males have long odontodes behind the gill covers, on the pectorals and the body. The Scobinancistrus genera have an unusual dentition, they have 3 to 4 teeth in each half of the upper jaw and the same in the lower jaw. Aquarium Care: This fish is an ideal addition to a large 5ft. or over aquarium containing such fish as South American cichlids, discus and angelfish, just as long as the other occupants are not too aggressive and can withstand the higher water temperatures, but they will get noticeably territorial as they mature. Sexual Diffences: The males have a broader head and longer bristles on the pectoral fin spines. Diet: Readily accepts a mixed and varied diet which includes sinking foods such as catfish pellets, frozen bloodworm and any other good quality foods which sink to the substrate. These catfish also have a preference to feed upon meatier foods such as dead fish, mussels and prawns.
