Relevant Information:

Similar to C. caudimaculatus but this species has a deeper body, a steeper head profile and more spots. Also similar to C. cruziensis and C. mamore. Harald Schultz first collected this species from the main stream of the upper Rio Guapore, Rondonia, Brazil and was thus named after this river by Jocham Knaack in 1961. Lineage: Corydoras guapore is placed in Lineage 4 which includes two of the dwarf species and a revison would be a resurrection of the disused Microcorydoras (Myers, 1953) with the designated type species: C. hastatus. As of the latest update Corydoras guapore is now been placed in Lineage 5 and has the new genus name of Gastrodermus (2024). Aquarium Care: This is akin to most of this genus, very peaceful, and would be best housed with small to medium sized tankmates such as Tetras, Rasboras and Danios or in a species tank for breeding purposes. Best to purchase 6 individuals or more as they will be happier in a group. Diet: Readily accepts a mixed and varied diet which includes granular foods, tablet food, frozen bloodworm and a good quality flake. Etymology: The specific name guapore: Named after Rio Guapore, where this Corydoras/Gastrodermus was collected. Remarks: Still found on some online sources as Corydoras guapore.
