Relevant Information:

CW016 has now (2023) been described as Corydoras (now Osteogaster) maclurei. This species comes from the same area as Hoplisoma weitzmani but is found in slower and deeper water. This beautiful species is quite rare in the hobby. Lineage: Placed in Lineage 7 alongside other members of the so called "aeneus group" with the designated type species: C. eques. A revision and description of Corydoras maclurei (CW016) in the future would constitute the resurrection of the genus name Osteogaster (Cope, 1871). As of the latest update Corydoras maclurei has now been placed in Lineage 7 and has the new genus name of Osteogaster (Dias et al. 2024). Aquarium Care: This is akin to most of this genus, very peaceful, and would be best housed with small to medium tank mates such as Tetras, Rasboras and Danios or in a species tank for breeding purposes. Diet: A good quality flake food and tablet food for adults with sporadic feedings of frozen or live food will keep your Corydoras/Osteogaster in good health. Etymology: Osteogaster maclurei is named in honour of Robert “Rob” McLure, dear friend and renowned Corydoradinae breeder. Rob has been the main English-language reviewer of the first author’s publications, in addition to providing valuable information and live photos of several species of Corydoradinae. A genitive noun (Tencatt LFC, Gomes VC, Evers H-G. 2023).
