The species is widespread or
without major threats throughout the Central Africa
assessment region and is assessed as Least Concern
in the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species. Habitat:
Chrysichthys laticeps is especially known
from the Lower Congo and Pool Malebo (Stanley Pool),
but has also been found in the central and upper Congo
River system. Aquarium Care: One
of the largest of the genus and thus far too large
for the home aquarium.
