is the only species in the genus Franciscodoras
of the catfish (order Siluriformes) family Doradidae.
Habitat: This species is endemic
to Brazil where it is found in the São Francisco
River basin. Etymology: The specific
name marmoratus: Meaning marbled-mottled.

Franciscodoras
marmoratus is endemic to the São Francisco
River basin, occurring throughout almost the entire
basin, where it is relatively abundant and common. There
is no evidence of population decline, nor of threats
that directly affect the species. Therefore, Franciscodoras
marmoratus has been categorised as Least
Concern (LC), (IUCN 2022).
