This species has been given
the LDA number 46. For a long time LDA046 was thought
to be the juvenile of P.
aurantiacus, but this
is wrong. Very special about LDA046 is, that the markings
become more and more intense with larger animals –
the species probably grows to about 15-17 cm long.
With most loricariids it is the other way round, the
juveniles are the more beautiful. Aquarium
Care: Only fairly territorial while youngsters
prefer to rest under pieces of wood and on to rockwork.
Adults rest on the substrate in hiding places. Sexual
Differences: Males posses a broader head
and more strongly bristled pectoral spines. The bristles
on the posterior of the males scutes are elongated
when sexually mature. Diet: Omnivore.
A varied diet with both vegetable and other foods
such as tablet, live and frozen. Remarks:
Similar looking as to P. aurantiacus.
