Description:
Similar looking to P.
maculicauda but this
species has a less defined black longitudinal band
than P. doceanus and also has less red colouration
in the caudal fin. Aquarium Care:
Provide a small tank with good filtration and regular
water changes. Diet: Artemia
naupli, vegetable matter and small foods. Etymology:
The specific name doceanus: Refering to the
river Doce, the type locality of the species.

Parotocinclus
doceanus occurs in the Mucuri and Doce river basins,
including coastal rivers between these basins, in the
states of Espírito Santo and Minas Gerais. It
is widely distributed, frequent, and abundant. As no
significant threats have been identified that put its
population at risk, Parotocinclus doceanus
has been categorised as Least
Concern (LC), (IUCN 2022).
