Pseudohemiodon
platycephalus occurs in the drainage of the Cuiabá,
Miranda, and Vermelho rivers, Paraguay River basin,
Brazil. The species is difficult to capture, which may
explain its low representation in collections. However,
no significant threats to its population have been identified.
Thus, P. platycephalus was categorised as Least
Concern (LC). Taxonomic studies are
recommended to verify its validity, as it has a sympatry
distribution with P. laticeps (IUCN 2022).
