Description: Different from the Glyptothorax genus as Glyptosternon does not possess a suckermouth. The anal and caudal fin is joined by a membrane. Aquarium Care: Peaceful with other fish but may be territorial to conspecifics. Will need a large unheated aquarium with a strong filtration and lighting. and plants that will tolerate low temperatures. Diet: Flake and tablet foods with frozen food such as bloodworm. Etymology: The specific name reticulatum: With a reticulated pattern, or net-like design.

IUCN Red List

Glyptosternon reticulatum is widespread in high altitude streams in South Asia (Pakistan, India - Jammu-Kashmir, Nepal, China - Tibet) where it occurs in many subpopulations. The species has shown population declines in the 20th Century due to dams and alien species invasion and has vanished from many lowlands habitats in its range. While these subpopulations are still believed to be in decline, many subpopulations in high altitude streams seem to be relatively stable. Therefore, it is assessed as Least Concern, (IUCN 2020).
