is collected with some frequency, but is not very
abundant. Etymology: The specific
name albinotatus: albus (L.), white; notatus
(L.), marked, referring to white marks on upper body.

Trichomycterus
albinotatus is endemic to the Paraíba do
Sul basin. It is collected fairly frequently, but is
not very abundant. It occurs in an area impacted by
urbanisation, which apparently does not represent a
significant threat that puts its population at risk,
and is categorised as Least
Concern (LC), (IUCN 2022).
