Very closely likened to C.
coriatae Burgess, 1997
which may very well prove to be a synonym of C.
fowleri.Lineage: Placed in
Lineage 1 and when there is a revision they will stay
as Corydoras (Lacépède, 1803)
with the type species of C. geoffroy La Cépède,
1803. As
of the latest update (Dias
et al 2024), Corydoras
fowleri has been placed in Lineage
1 and has retained the genus name of Corydoras.
Aquarium Care: As this is one of
the longer snouted species it will be well suited
to most community tanks. A well planted tank with
a soft substrate such as sand so they can bury their
snouts while searching out food. Diet:
A good quality flake food and tablet food for adults
with sporadic feedings of frozen or live food will
keep your Corydoras in good health. Etymology:
The specific name fowleri: in honour of American
ichthyologist Henry Weed Fowler (1878–1965),
Academy of Natural Sciences of Philadelphia, for his
contributions to South American freshwater ichthyology.
