Claroteidae

ClaroteidaeWas previously a sub-family of the Bagridae, this group of catfishes has now been elevated to its own family status. All from the African continent with the Giraffe or the African Big Eye Catfish being the more common species.

Sizes vary in this family from the larger Chrysichthys to the smaller Lophiobagrus genera of Lake Tanganika.
