Relevant Information:

Although Chrysichthys sharpii is only known by the type locality Lake Mweru, it is listed as Least Concern. In the unpublished PhD thesis of Risch, L (1986), he states that Chrysichthys mabusi is a synonym of Chrysichthys sharpii, causing an expansion of the range of the latter with the Lualaba-Lufira and Luvua-Luapula-Chambesi River Systems and Lake Bangweulu (IUCN 2010, needs updating). Etymology: In honour of British planter, hunter and colonial administrator in central Africa, Alfred Sharpe (1853-1935), who presented type to the British Museum (Natural History).
