This species was imported as a bi-catch with Osteogaster zygata from Peru and is somewhat similar to O. eques from Brazil and has been given the Corydoras World CW number of CW007. There are three species that are very alike, the two mentioned and another one Corydoras cf. eques which has been given the CW number of CW043 but is now been reported as being the same as O. eques and it is also from Peru and is collected along with O. rabauti from the upper Ucayali. Lineage: Placed in Lineage 7 alongside other members of the so called "aenea/us group" with the designated type species: C. eques. A revision and description of CW007 in the future would constitute the resurrection of the genus name Osteogaster (Cope, 1871). As of the latest update (Dias et al. 2024) Corydoras sp. (CW007) has now been placed in Lineage 7 and has the new genus name of Osteogaster. Aquarium Care: This is akin to most of this genus, very peaceful, and would be best housed with small to medium tank mates such as Tetras, Rasboras and Danios or in a species tank for breeding purposes. Diet: A good quality flake food and tablet food for adults with sporadic feedings of frozen or live food will keep your Corydoras/Osteogaster in good health. Remarks: Will probably do better in cooler water temperatures. Still found on some online sources as Corydoras sp. (CW007).
