Inhabits small groundwater cavities in Somalia. There
may be more species waiting to be discovered in the
genus but for now it is monotypic. It is a small Clariid
and as it is a cave dwelling species it has been added
to the IUCN Red List of vulnerable species (1996)
due to the removal of water from its habitat by pump.
CHARDON (1968) made a study of this species among
others, and stated that it is a form between the Families
of Clariidae and Bagridae and as such should be in
its own family, Uegitglanididae.
