Description: Anduzedoras oxyrhynchus is the only species in the genus Anduzedoras of the catfish (order Siluriformes) family Doradidae. Sum of left and right midlateral plates usually greater than 74; adipose eye well developed. Habitat: This species originates from the Rio Negro and upper Orinoco River basins of Brazil and Venezuela. Etymology: The genus name of Anduzedoras: in honour of Pablo J. Anduze (1902–1989), Venezuelan explorer, ethnologist and medical entomologist, and later governor of Amazonas State, Venezuela, whom Fernández-Yépez said dedicated many years to practicing medicine in the jungle, and always found time to collect zoological specimens; Doras, type genus of family. The specific name oxyrhynchus: From the Greek oxys = 'sharp' or 'acute' and rhynchos = 'snout', alluding to the long snout.
