Relevant Information:

There are at present (2021) 22 species in this poorly known genera. Habitat: This species occurs in Colombia, in the San Juan River basin (Eschmeyer 1998). Its type locality is Río Condoto (Regan 1913). Its extent of occurrence (EOO) is estimated at 770 km² (calculated as the minimum convex polygon around the sub-catchment(s) where the species occurs). The main threats appear to be affecting the only known sub-catchment where the species occurs, therefore only one location can be identified. The region in the San Juan River basin is being impacted by deforestation, industrial production of African palm oil, uncontrolled gold mining and illegal growing of coca (WWF 2001). These activities are causing a continuing decline in the quality of the habitat of the species. Remarks: Imparfinis spurrellii has a very restricted range and occurs at a single location, which is affected by several threats, including illegal mining and deforestation that are causing a continuing decline in habitat quality. Hence, the species is listed as endangered in The Red List.
