Pimelodina flavipinnis is the only species of the genus Pimelodina. Habitat: Found in in shallow lagoons and feeds on benthic organisms. Etymology: The specific name flavipinnis: flavus (L.), yellow; pinnis, Neo-Latin adjective of pinna (L.), fin, i.e., finned, referring to reddish-yellow fins.
