Description: As with this genera the head is depressed and broad. The first rays of the pectoral and ventral fins enlarged and transverely striated to form an adhesive apparatus. Etymology: The genus name Barbeuchiloglanis: barba (L.), beard, referring to longer maxillary and mandibular barbels compared with Chimarrichthys, Creteuchiloglanis and Pareuchiloglanis; Euchiloglanis (=Chimarrichthys), a generic name used for a group of Glyptosterninae. The specific name feae: In honour of Italian explorer and zoologist Leonardo Fea (1852–1903), who collected holotype [although named after a man, “ae” is an acceptable way to form a genitive from masculine nouns that end in “a”]. Remarks: Still found on some online searches as Pareuchiloglanis feae.
