Relevant Information:

Description: Dorsal soft rays (total): 5; Anal soft rays: 10 - 11; Vertebrae: 29 - 30. Differs from Pseudolaguvia foveolata in having a thoracic adhesive apparatus reaching beyond the base of the last pectoral-fin ray, a deeper body 13.9-16.1% SL and fewer vertebrae 29-30; from P. kapuri in having shorter adipose-fin base 13.6-16.4% SL; from P. muricata in having shorter dorsal )18.7-21.7% SL) and pectoral (20.4-23.3% SL) spines and a longer caudal peduncle 16.3-19.0% SL0; and from P. ribeiroi in having a longer dorsal-fin spine 18.6-21.7% SL and deeper caudal peduncle 7.7-8.5% SL. Distinguished further from P. shawi in having a larger interorbital distance 30.4-34.2% HL, from P. tenebricosa in having a longer dorsal-fin spine 18.6-21.7% SL and from P. tuberculata in having a shorter adipose-fin base 13.6-16.4% SL. Colouration: Uniform body colouration with a pale mid-dorsal stripe and brown submarginal stripes on each lobe of the caudal fin. Habitat: Inhabits clear, shallow, moderately flowing stream with a predominantly sandy bottom. Aquarium Care: In captivity they need cool and well oxygenated water for long term survival and they also have to be housed with peaceful tankmates. Diet: They need a good supply of live foods to keep them healthy. Etymology: Pseudolaguvia, Pseudo-, false; i.e., although this genus may superficially resemble several “closely allied” genera, including Laguvia (a junior synonym of Erethistes), such an appearance is false. The species epithet inornata: Latin for undecorated or unadorned, referring to absence of pale markings on sides. Remarks: When caught, it was showing a mud-type brown shade colour. After keeping it in a planted setup it showed a Golden-Brown colour, (Humaun Kabir Rahat/Sadit Khan, 2025). Further Remarks: There is insufficient information regarding the distribution of Pseudolaguvia inornata, since it has only been collected from the type locality. Information about its biology and potential threats facing this species is also lacking, and it is assessed as Data Deficient (IUCN 2010).
