Description: Palatal tooth patches distinctly triangular, their long axes at about 70° to curve of mouth. Etymology: The genus name Kyataphisa: Bengali word meaning catfish. The specific name nenga: from Nenga gagora, local Bengali name for this catfish in India. Remarks: On some online searches this species can still be found as Nemapteryx nenga.
