Relevant Information:

Description: Can be identified by its long nose and grey colouration. Aquarium Care: Too large a species for the home aquarium. Etymology: The genus name of Tachysurus: tachys, swift; oura, tail, referring to the presumed agility of T. sinensis based on its “long and nimble” tail (translation). The specific name of dumerili: in honour of Bleeker’s friend August Duméril (1812-1870), herpetologist and ichthyologist, Muséum national d’Histoire naturelle (Paris), who kindly allowed Bleeker to describe it. Remarks: Moved from the Leiocassis genera to Tachysurus but has been misadentified as Tachysurus longirostris.
