Relevant Information:

Similar looking to C. araguaiaensis and C122 in the middle portion of the Rio Araguaia around Aruanã but has a longer snout. Lineage: Placed in Lineage 1, and when there is a revision they will stay as Corydoras (Lacépède, 1803) with the type species of C. geoffroy La Cépède, 1803. As of the latest update (Dias et al 2024), Corydoras maculifer has been placed in Lineage 1 and has retained the genus name of Corydoras. Aquarium Care: As this is one of the longer snouted species it will be well suited to most community tanks. A well planted tank with a soft substrate such as sand so they can bury their snouts while searching out food. Diet: A good quality flake food and tablet food for adults with sporadic feedings of frozen or live food will keep your Corydoras in good health. Etymology: The specific name maculifer: macula (L.), spot; –ifer, from fero (L.), to have or bear, referring to horizontal rows of spots on body.
