Description:
Nuchal foramina absent; anterior nuchal plate wide,
laterally expanded and sutured to epioccipital (no
suture between supraoccipital and middle nuchal plate)
for the Doras genera. Midlateral plates becoming
smaller anteriorly (D. micropoeus). Etymology:
The specific name micropoeus: micro-, from
mikrós (Gr.), small; poeus, from poiéo
(Gr.), to make or produce, referring to reduced or
“rudimentary” anterior midlateral scutes.

it is widely distributed, occurs in protected areas,
and considered to have stable populations (IUCN 2021).
