Really only suitable for public aquariums or outside heated pools as this species gets too large for normal aquarium care. Diet: Feeds on other fishes. Etymology: The specific name malarmo: local name of this species “in the territory of the hostile Motilone Indians” of Venezuela, meaning bony-cheek, referring to the ossified part of maxillary barbels.
