Relevant Information: Dorsal soft rays (total): 4; Anal soft rays: 44 - 55; Vertebrae: 48 - 52. Mature males with bifurcated serrae on the pectoral spine; zero or one gill raker on first branchial arch; and depth of caudal peduncle 6.3-9.5% SL. Occurs in both acid water forest streams and blackwater habitats in peat swamps. Also found in blackwater streams in lowland and upland areas. The species pictured was photographed in a subterranean stream in Jambusan, Borneo.

Distribution: Asia: Northern and western Borneo (Sarawak, Brunei, and Kalimantan Barat). Type locality: Sarawak: Sungai Sebiris, 13.8km after Kampung Puteh turnoff, towards Lundu on Sematan-Lundu road (1º41'32"N, 109º47'0.8"E).
Size: 10.5cm.SL (4¼ins)
Temp: 22-26°C (71-79F)
