Description:
Similar looking as to S.
soloni which
has a darker body, shorter humeral process and a shorter
body length. The characteristics of S. camelopardalis
is that the inner mandibular barbels are thickened
with many branches. Aquarium Care:
Keep in the same conditions as S.
brichardi. Etymology:
The specific name camelopardalis: camelus
(L.), camel; pardus (L.), leopard, together forming
ancient name of the giraffe (cameleopard), referring
to its colouration, which resembles that of a giraffe,
Giraffa camelopardalis. Remarks:
The two leucistic
specimens have been tentatively identified due to
the mandibular teeth structure. They were collected
at the Kinsuka falls (rapids) in the Congo Dem Rep.
This species is a lot rarer in imports.

Synodontis
camelopardalis is only known from the type locality
Eala, Ruki River, Central Congo River basin. The species
may be more widespread than is currently known. More
information is needed on the species distribution before
an assessment can be made, (needs updating IUCN 2010).
